About Us

Chester Gontner, founder of Wizard Lock, began his career in locksmithing as a hobby. He studied the locksmith's craft in his spare time. After his hardware business closed during the depression of 1929, he returned to Lancaster where he'd grown up, to open his locksmith's shop in 1938. That store is the same store that is still in operation today.

As the years went by, Chester invited his son Chet to join the business and eventually turned the business over to Chet when he retired.

In 2008, Chet Gontner sold Wizard Lock to 3 long-time employees, Karen Williams, Todd Henning and Lary Engle. The goal for the sale was to continue to grow the business without sacrificing the integrity of the company or the company vision.

Today Wizard Lock is the oldest locksmith company in Lancaster County instilled with a reputation for prompt service and impeccable integrity.

Management Staff

Karen Williams, General Manager
Karen began her career at Wizard Lock in 1983 as a part-time employee and quickly moved to full-time work. She became a locksmith at a time when not many women occupied the field. In addition to becoming a locksmith and servicing customer needs, Karen helped bring the office into the computer age. Karen currently serves as the General Manager and continues to take classes to keep her knowledge current.

Todd Henning, Service Manager
Todd began working for Wizard Lock in 1985 when he was just 18 years old. Todd serves as a locksmith, takes care of customer needs and coordinates the outside team of locksmiths. Todd is also a safe technician and continues to take classes to stay up to date on the latest technologies.

Lary Engle, Assistant Service Manager
Lary became a locksmith in 1985 and joined Wizard Lock in 1997. He became a master certified locksmith in 1989 and also serves as a safe technician. Currently Lary serves on the Board of Director's of the Central PA Locksmith Association. He has taught classes at several local and national locksmith organizations.

Lary attended Cumberland Perry Votech to study Automotive in 1980 and also served in the US Air Force from 1981-1985. While in Air Force, Lary was team chief for a Minuteman III I.C.B.M.
